Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient applying and monitoring of systems for stable mining including:

analysing hazards and risks, and implementing control measures

accessing and analysing archival and historical mine management information related to the mine and failure mode of mine structures

interpreting and applying design criteria for mine management

conducting and reporting on audits

identifying and evaluating geological and geotechnical information

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the applying and monitoring of systems for stable mining that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

providing leadership and direction to the team by communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities

identifying the training needs of others and preparing training plans

demonstrates completion of applying and monitoring systems for stable mining that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

assessing and assigning appropriate plant and equipment

developing and administering work plans

monitoring installation of ground support systems, and making required adjustments for variances and non-achievement of outcomes

assessing outcomes to make reasoned recommendations and writing reports

preparing training plans

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of applying and monitoring systems for stable mining through:

work, health and safety

mining structures including: mine plans, ventilation, gas monitoring, strata support and safety management plans

applying risk management processes

identifying and managing environmental issues, risks and implementing control measures

identifying and applying emergency response and evacuation planning processes and techniques

assessing plant and equipment capabilities and application

implementing plant, equipment and tools maintenance requirements and procedures

applying training and assessment principles
